Creating a Change in Work Supplement Application
Fee Information and Detail Screens
Change in Work supplements are used to add unanticipated work or to modify the work on an existing permit. Check with your District Permit Office if you are unsure if you need a Change in Work supplement or a new permit.
NOTE: Traffic signal changes in work supplements address signal structure, relocation, and components.
To Apply for a Change in Work Supplement:
1. Access the Application Information, Permit, License, or Supplement/Assignment Lists screen of the permit for which a change in work supplement is needed.
2. Click the Create Supplements button.
Note: The Create Supplement menu button is hidden if supplements of all possible types are in process. If a change to work supplement is in process a user can still request a time extension, for example.
3. Select the Change in Work option. The Create Supplement screen appears; the permit Application Number and the Permit Number display in the header.
4. Enter a description of the work being changed and the reason it is being changed in the Applicant Supplement Description and Justification field.
5. Click Save & Exit. The Supplement Application Information screen appears, opened to the Setup>Information tab. While much of the information on this tab is for display-only, you can edit the information you entered on the Create Supplement screen, if needed.
6. Click Save & Next. The Setup>Work Summary and Locations tab displays, listing the work summaries from the original permit application or the most recently issued Change in Work supplement. From this tab, you can edit and/or add work summary and location details the same way you could on the permit application. See Work Summary and Location Details if you need help adding/editing this information.
7. From the Setup>Work Summary and Locations tab, click Save & Next. The Setup>Identification tab displays along with the information from the Application Identification screen on the original permit or the most recently issued Change in Work supplement. You can modify any of the details on this page except EPS Application.
NOTE: If this time extension supplement application is for a traffic signal permit, skip step 8 and begin again with step 9. Traffic signal applications are not subject to fees.
8. Click Save & Next. The Setup>Fee information tab displays. Change in Work Supplements are usually $10. The appropriate fee will be automatically listed on the Fee Information tab. However, this fee information is editable and you can remove it and/or add other fees as necessary in the same way you could add/edit fees on the permit application.
9. Click Save & Next. The Setup>Attachments tab displays. Attach any necessary documentation to the supplement application in the same way you could attach documents on the permit application.
10. To see a list of all the documents attached to this supplement, the permit application, and/or any other supplements associated with the permit, click the Setup>Attachment History tab.
11. From the Setup>Attachment History tab, click Save & Next OR click the Setup>Supplement Summary tab, which displays in a read-only view all the information entered for the supplement you are creating.
12. From the Setup>Supplement Summary tab, click another tab or the Supplement Application link.
13. When finished with the application, submit it to PennDOT by clicking the Submit button on the toolbar. A Submission Authorization Confirmation prompt displays.
14. Select an option and then click the I Agree button. The Supplement Application Information page will still be displayed, and the status of the supplement will be Submitted.
