Deleting an Attachment

All ePermitting users can upload and view attachments of electronic files for reference.

Typical Application Team attachments include documents, plans, photographs, drawings, correspondence, agreements, etc., required to illustrate and explain the work identified on a submitted application. The Applicant Team can continue to upload inspection documents after a permit is issued until it is closed.

PennDOT Review Team members typically attach reference documents, printed permits and other correspondence related to the review process.

To upload a standard attachment:

1.      Use the search options to locate and select an application.

2.      Click Attachments.

3.      Click Add in the Attachments section.

4.      Select the Document Type. Refer to the table below for document categories.

5.      Enter a description of the document being uploaded.

6.      Click Browse. The Windows Choose File to Upload window appears.

7.      Locate and select the attachment document. Refer to the table below for acceptable file formats for ePermitting attachments.

8.      Click Open. The file appears on the list.

9.      Click Attach. The Application Attachments window reappears.

10.  To add additional attachments, repeat steps 3 to 8.

11.  Click Back to return to the Application Information screen or other previous screen.

To upload a PATA document:

1.      Use the search options to locate and select an application.

2.      Click Attachments.

3.      Click Add in the PATA Documents section. The Selection screen displays.

4.      Click one or more check boxes to select a document in the Available Records list.

5.      Click Apply to add the document(s) to the Selected Documents list.

6.      Click OK to attach the document(s) and return to the Application Information screen.

Document Types

The Document Type identifies each document attachment by a specific category for easier identification and location. Everyone on the applicant team and review team can upload documents.

Acceptable File Formats

The table below lists types of documents that can be attached to an ePermitting application. All documents are stored in the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Each document type has a specific retention schedule, which is defined by regulation.

The size of each document is limited to 50 megabytes (MB).

Note that the same document can be attached only once in the current application cycle. Attachments can be added or deleted only for the current cycle. Attachments from previous application cycles cannot be modified.

PennDOT application reviewers may indicate changes or notes on submitted documents using Adobe Acrobat software. If corrections are required, the applicant is notified by e-mail to generate and attach a revised PDF document.
